TACP Architects were appointed to develop designs for a Cruck framed barn as part of Chester Renaissance’s Academy of Heritage Skills.
The project is funded through the heritage Lottery Funds Skills for the future programme and provides a working example for an apprentice to learn the necessary skills to construct this style of barn, traditional to that found in areas in Chester.
Prior to TACP Architects appointment various sited were discussed to find the most suitable site for such a project. The green at Aldford provided the perfect setting for such a building whilst also providing a building which can be used by the community. The shelter will be constructed from timber felled within The Grosvenor Estate, a thatched roof and a brick chimney to match surrounding styles. The shelter will provide a space for the community.
